Over a hundred years ago, Indiana was a major producer of maple syrup in the USA. The product was an important part of Native American culture and was revered as a natural sweetener. Recently, a new crop of maple syrup producers has started tapping trees and supply is increasing as new technology is playing a role in production efficiencies. Maple syrup production in Indiana is a healthier natural sweetener, beneficial for the natural environment, and valuable for our local economies.
